Jishava is currently living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She cut her teeth as an organizer-educator at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. It was there at UMass she came to understand (and see!) that powerful, long-range, visionary organizing and change work happens when people practice deep trust and building up one another’s capacity for leadership. Jishava joined the STOKE Collective with a deep commitment to supporting groups of people in slowing down in order to clarify their vision, strategies, and relationships, and to recalibrate their multifaceted approach. It is important to her that this work is done with an eye towards fostering interdependent, collaborative, and bottom-up changemaking cultures. Because she is unwavering in her faith that every group has the potential to be powerful when given the space and support to embody it.
